In Romans 10:17, we find one of the pivotal verses of the Bible.
"So then, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God."
An overlooked facet of this verse is that it is telling us to develop a dicotomy. This dicotomy of "faith" and "hearing", are mutually dependent!

First, "hearing" is the "access valve" for "downloading" your faith. The key for success is learning how to open your "access valve". You do this by immersing yourself in the Word of God. Because hearing is one of the five senses, it is often confused with "Spiritual Hearing."
Spiritual Hearing is not dependent on eardrums. Rather, it has to have "Spiritual Awareness" operational in order to "slice" between the spirit and soul (Hebrews 4:12). Without an understanding of spiritual reality, Faith cannot be birthed! This understanding comes from a direct revelation from God. We often refer to this Word from God as a Rhema Word.

Whenever we try to "operate" on someone else's faith, we are similar to the person that Jesus was referring to as being lukewarm. There is no way that we can operate effectively in the Spirit world without having first gotten a "spiritual directive."

The bottom line is that we cannot move in faith in a given area if we have not heard specifically from God on the subject! Anything short of a direct word from God, is going to be built on a "good idea", rather than a "God directive."
